The classic David Bowie album Ziggy Stardust (or The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, for those serious about such things) has been remixed and mashed up by DJ BC—Bob Cronin to his buddies, one of the best-known artists in the genre—and it’s real good. I think my favourite is “Moonage Symphony” in which Bowie is mashed up with the Supremes, to way better results than I would have imagined. The album is mash-ups of most of the songs, and remixes of the others. There are mash-ups with MGMT, Deep Purple, Jay-Z, Bob Marley and the Beatles, remixes of “Suffragette City,” “Five Years” and others. It’s free, of course, and you can get everything at ziggyremixed.com, including the album art. And finally, a shout out to Alexandra for Valentine’s Day: Bobby Vinton, “My Special Angel” (tinyurl.com/chrss4). Commence with the booing, groaning and general thoughts of ill will.
