Boogie with Boogie |
You can peep Hip Hop History 3 this Friday at Blizzarts, complete with DJ Lexis, 7D and special guest MC Masia One all the way from Toronto.
WELCOME BACK: Pharoahe Monch You may have seen the new video for Pharoahe Monch’s remake of Public Enemy’s classic “Welcome to the Terrordome” doing the rounds, but what you may not have known that the video was directed by Concordia University alumni Daniel Rosenberg and Briin Bernstein. Filled with clips of protests, Iraqi war victims, police brutality and more, the images accompanied by Chuck D’s original lyrics pack a brand new punch. After some resistance from Monch’s label, SRC/Universal, regarding the release of the video, the former Organized Konfusion MC has officially parted ways with the music conglomerate. Monch released a statement saying, “I really felt it was important to get this song and message out to the people. The lyrics are as relevant today as they were in the early ’90s when this song was originally released. I wanted a visual that was as compelling as the lyrics and I believe we have achieved that. I’ve parted ways with the label so I can take control over the content that my name is associated with.” You can check out the video at tinyurl.com/6yv7d9. Ottawa DJs Zattar, Adam White and Eric Roberts, who collectively hold down the popular Timekode parties in their hometown, join the Goods this Saturday at la Sala Rossa, $5 before 11:30 p.m. and $12 after. Don’t get too dolled up for this one, because you’ll be sweating before you know it.
