Damn right

Pigs at the trough

While the American taxpayer’s ass was still burning from the $85-billion front of federal cash to AIG by the White House, the executives of AIG insurance subsidiary American General gathered for a conference. And though talk of market collapse may have been on their forked tongues, concern certainly wasn’t on display. Instead, Tuscan-gold tablecloths gently fluttered in a soft OC breeze, the tables lavishly adorned by the staff of the $565-per-night five-star resort where AIG’s favoured hogs met for another orgy of excess.

Apparently in their own world, where the American President’s leprechauns dutifully spin bullshit into gold, AIG insisted they couldn’t have known when they booked the opulent St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort that just a few short months later, their questionable financial manoeuvring would come undone. They further explained that this particular subsidiary wasn’t ever in financial peril.

Nonetheless, the decadent display didn’t sit well with the increasingly large pool of thrice-fucked have-nots. A spokesperson for California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) said their office was inundated by angry calls asking why their tax dollars should be used to “bail out these Wall Street fat cats.”
