Hell’s balls

The other place: If hell does exist, it might be in Darvaz, Uzbekistan. Back in the 1970s, they were drilling for natural gas just outside this tiny town in Central Asia. And they found some—lots of it, in fact. Just one problem—some genius accidentally ignited it. The scientists figured it would just burn off, but it hasn’t. It keeps burning and no one’s sure just how much (wasted) gas is down there. See thrilling pics and video of (literally) hell on Earth at www.englishrussia.com/?p=1830.

This side up: Elements is a fun and addictive Flash game that’s not for the faint of heart (or stomach.) It’s basically a 3D version of Breakout (or Arkanoid) that traps the ball inside a box, and instead of moving your paddle-spaceship thing around, you actually rotate the boxes, which can cause not just fun, but also a nauseating sense of vertigo. Watch out—when the colours change, you may be reaching for the mouse and the gravol at games.wegame.com/adventure/elements.
