Bricked: Some guy built a working simulation of Donkey Kong completely out of LEGO. Define working? Donkey Kong throws barrels, Mario jumps over them, and it’s completely synched up so that Mario misses the barrels (at least most of the time—but it’s a pretty tough game anyway.) Okay, there’s no hammer, but nearly all the details are there, including the theme tune, played entirely on, you guessed it, LEGO. Avoid the barrels at wrench.vib.org/lego/donkeykong/.

Message from space: Want to send your iPod into orbit? Escape Pod is a cleverly named science fiction podcast that’s part high-tech hipsterdom and part old-timey radio. Every year, they record audio versions of the Hugo-nominated science fiction short stories (it’s like the Oscars for serious literary geeks) and distribute them for free for anyone smart enough to turn off Rihanna for a minute to expand their mind. This year’s crop includes time travel romanticism, voodoo politics, sexy space operas and homeless battle robots in love at escapepod.org.
