Southern hospitality

Tonight, Thursday, July 31, the Payz Play boys unleash the new beast with a show slated for the Vidéotron stage, by Place des Arts, at 10 p.m. as part of FrancoFolies. I’m sure a lot of you recall the spectacle that was the Atach Tatuq live show, so let’s hope they’re sipping from the same cup this time out.

If you’re a fan of Eye 2 Eye, you’re invited to check out the dynamic duo when they set up shop down at Crobar for a show this Friday, Aug. 1. Expect to see the legendary Brockaway Biggs, Annakin Slayd and more. The night starts at 9 p.m., and ladies get in free before 10 p.m.

Last Saturday night, we missed the boat on that East-End warehouse party after making a poutine pit stop at 5 a.m. (sorry, Sharon!), but for those of you who still need some Redd Dredd in your lives, I’ve got just the thing for you. He plays Shine Lounge this Friday, Aug. 1, alongside weekly residents DJ Licious and MC Hurrikane, and if you’re not into the wait, then got-dang it, don’t be late.

HIGH TIME: Mikey Dangerous

Those of you looking for yet another reason to check out the brand new Apple Store down at 1321 Ste-Catherine W. should know that good ol’ Jojoflores is DJing an in-store this Saturday from 3 –6 p.m. The free event should provide the perfect soundtrack for late iPhone patrons who require some musical inspiration while they buy. I can hear it now—“I only bought this phone because Jojo was playing my song when I walked in!”

Make sure you check out Brazika up at Café de Lima this Friday night as they present a special Brazika Pride night with resident DJ Kani on the wheels. The music of the world is on deck, with special attention given to Afro-Latin, Brazilian and tropical grooves. Five dollars gets you in.

Rising Montreal reggae artist and Juno Award winner Mikey Dangerous is set to perform with the Higher Heights Band this Friday at la Sala Rossa. The show will also feature performances from Leesa Mackey, Psycosis, Ijah and Fatty Saprano. Tix are $10 at the door.

If you didn’t already know, Ludacris is set to drop by Orchid this Friday to help celebrate their six-year anniversary. MC Metrops and DJs Payce, Rukus, Xamplez, Tek, Engen, Yao and Smoove*E will all be on hand to keep the party moving too. Open bar for ladies before midnight of course, with the $20 night starting at 10 p.m.

Finally, check out yours truly with Lexis and Basementsoul at Blizzarts this Friday night for a dose of some hot next-shit. See ya...
