[Re: “De-debunking conspiracy,” People, July 17] On behalf of the members of Montreal 9/11 Truth, I would like to thank you for your coverage of our group, our March on Ottawa and our petition demanding an independent Canadian investigation into the 9/11 cover-up in last week’s edition of the Mirror. It’s rare that journalists and the media (corporate or independent) give us a fair chance of explaining our goals and why we believe this issue is the most important one of our generation, especially in an unbiased way. Given this opportunity, people can see that we are not lunatics or paranoiacs, but well-informed and concerned citizens that, in light of the overwhelming evidence, believe that a real probe into the events that killed scores of Canadians in New York in 2001 is not only necessary, but essential for a free and democratic society to function. >> Jean-Philippe, www.mtl911truth.org/ The media in general have been all too shy to do any kind of serious investigative work about the September 11, 2001 event. A most important date for the New World Order whose nefarious agenda includes more warfare for U.S. and Canadian citizens alike. The world is on the brink of yet another war (Iran) with more civilian casualties as a result of our inaction. The consequences of 9/11 are tremendous, as our taxes are now being diverted to attack third world countries like Afghanistan and our own civil liberties jeopardized under the American Patriot Act. 9/11 truther Robert Lewis is a very interesting guy who wants to bring some light to this dark subject. Your article helps get people’s (much needed) attention. >> Jean Blais Dialogue with God[Re: “Bestial behaviour,” Letters, July 17] Like Jalaluddin S. Hussain, I also wish that someone out there would explain to me why there is so much poverty in third world countries, and for that matter, even in the so-called developed countries, and why there is so much fighting, killing and misery in the world. The following story my grandfather told me when I was a kid growing up in my native Eastern European country won’t answer the above questions but it might shed some light on the subject: A clever little fellow somehow managed to enter into a conversation with God. “Tell me, God, is it true that what to us mortals is a million dollars is to you only a penny?” “Yes, said the Almighty. I’m God and what to you is a million dollars to me is but a penny.” “And is it also true that what to us is 10,000 years, to you is just a minute.” “Yes,” responded the Lord, “I’m God and what is 10,000 years to you is just a minute to me.” “God, may I please have a penny?” “Yes, of course, wait a minute!” Look, organized societies existed in various degrees for no more than 10,000 years or so, in which mankind learned the essentials for survival: how to hunt and eat, how to escape being eaten, how to build fires, shelters, make tools, learn to speak, cultivate the land etc. That took a very long time. Now we’re involved in solving much more complex problems, such as the one mentioned by Mr. Hussain, with whom I sympathize but can only quote the punch line from my grandfather’s story: “WAIT A MINUTE!” The process is known as human evolution. Good luck! >> Ed Binder Not God’s fault[Re: “God nearly dead,” Letters, July 3] I was amazed to read John Dirlik’s mislabelled letter blaming God for all the troubles. Lest he forget, I remind him this: We have medicines to treat all kinds of ailments. If the person does not follow the doctor’s instructions, would we blame the medication? John Dirlik is entitled to his immature attack on God. Any serious person will note the harm that has been done in the name of Christianity and Judaism. George W. Bush says he appeals to a “higher Father” before he sends his murder machines to Iraq and Afghanistan. The Zionists in Israel claim that they’re emptying Palestine of non-Jews to fulfil Biblical prophecies. A closer look at these two faiths will show how wrong these merchants of death are in using questionable Biblical sources (old and new). Instead of lambasting God Almighty, Dirlik should point his finger at such paragons as the current Pope and the many Rabbis who openly advocate violence against Muslims, Arabs, Natives etc. None of them truly represent their faiths. They’re fakes and racists at best. >> M.N Syed WE WELCOME LETTERS TO THE EDITOR! Send your comments, compliments or criticisms to:
