Harnessing your subconscious can give you control over your destiny, says mind power instructor

by CHRIS BARRY

Name: Jorj Elprehzleinn

Age: 47

Occupation: “Mind power” instructor.

Bio: Some 20 years ago, this complex Côte-St-Luc stud was involved in a passionate yet impossible relationship with a married woman. Heartbroken, he consulted a psychic on how best to kill himself. “She didn’t want to tell me at first, but I kept on her and eventually she told me to go to Big Sur, California and jump off a cliff.” After borrowing a few bucks from his apparently sympathetic parents to go do the deed, he arrived in Cali only to experience a sudden change of heart. “I’d been looking to transform myself, which in my immaturity I thought meant to die. But that was too simplistic. Something happened to me in that relationship that made me feel something, something about love and sex and spiritual being and that all these things were connected. I’d felt something so beautiful and wonderful that I wanted to live that feeling again, in everything I do, and share this feeling with everyone else. So I decided not to kill myself so I could bring more of this true love into life for me and for others. And that’s what my teachings are about. I show people how to handle their minds, so they can experience this true love.” In other words, he teaches “mind power” techniques to those seeking greater control of their destinies. The deal with “mind power:” “It’s how the subconscious mind controls a person’s life. Most people don’t have a relationship with their subconscious mind but that’s what’s running the show. So what we do is get people to bring up their subconscious minds and change them. Then their lives change according to the new stories they plant there. Buddha summarized it, saying, ‘We are what we think—all that we are arises from our thoughts, with our thoughts we make the world as surely as the cart follows the horse.’ And that’s the secret. Your thoughts create your reality.”

So if one can simply re-program their minds to effect a new reality for themselves, does it follow I could program my subconscious mind to begin a passionate sexual relationship with, say, Bea Arthur, and reasonably expect it to happen? “I teach a healthy system that gets you to actually think clearly, stopping yourself from these wild sorts of fantasies to ground yourself in your present life, the one you’re in right now.”

Is it possible he’s out of his mind? “So far as being crazy is concerned, I’ve always been independent, innovative and creative. When I was younger I had a certain ‘Fuck you’ attitude, which wasn’t healthy but kept me safe. So long as I’m living in society and paying my rent then… I’m actually brilliant and intelligent and, you know, people thinking I’m crazy once disturbed me a lot. But when I discovered destiny cards and learned I was the Jack of Clubs, the most mentally creative card in the deck, that was healing for me. I know people see me as eccentric, but what the fuck is that? Everyone else is weird.”

Last book read: Destiny Cards, by Robert Camp.

Musical preferences: Steven Halpern, Def Leppard, Elvis.

Words of wisdom: “True love’s kiss is the greatest magic of them all.”
