Between the slices: Don’t read this while hungry. Esquire magazine, not a publication one normally associates with big, sloppy, greasy fast food, has compiled a list of the Best Sandwiches in America. The only rule is no burgers, so they run the gamut from grilled to toasted to fried, but all have a few traits in common: meat, cheese, mayonnaise and lots of deep-frying. According to the list, the sandwich hotspots are New Orleans, Philadelphia and the Pacific Northwest—whether this is of interest to the fastidious and vain Rogaine-rubbing Esquire readers is unclear at www.esquire.com/features/food-drink/sandwiches. Snapping shots: Stille is a brand-new photoblog that showcases the work of globetrotting local photog Jamie Rosen. There’re elderly bus-riders in the Czech Republic, pretty girls in pastoral fields, and a romantically lit marketplace in Tijuana, the place that defined “border town.” Rosen has a talent for capturing the off-the-beaten-track aspects of popular tourist destinations, and also provides his personal commentary, which makes Stille about more than just photographic pyrotechnics.
