Watch this: If you associate Japanese watchmakers like Seiko and Citizen with dorky, ’80s-era calculator watches, you could not be more wrong. Welcome to the alternate universe of high-end Japanese watches. If TAGs are as common as Timex and Raymond Weil is Raymond Won’t, how about the $2,500 Seiko Credor-Pacifique, with three dials and a crocodile strap? Or if you’re really serious, try the ultra-high-end-but-only-in-Japan 26-jewel Grand Seiko, the Toyota Century of automatic watches. It’s no flash and all substance (and $19,385) at www.higuchi-inc.com. Watch daily: Before YouTube was all Chocolate Rain and guys with smudged mascara crying over Britney Spears, it was, more or less, where you went to watch The Daily Show clips. Now The Daily Show is where you do that, because now all of the episodes hosted by Jon Stewart are online for free and legitimately. Getting work done has met its match at www.thedailyshow.com.
