Brick city: Eric Harshbarger is a guy who likes to build huge objects out of LEGO. Somehow, he’s turned this bizarre compulsion into a cash-making venture. A few years ago, a software company commissioned him to build a life-size desk (with working drawers) out of red, yellow, blue and white LEGO. It took around 35,000 pieces, at a cost of about $2,000, plus three kilograms of glue to keep the thing together. See a diary of its creation at www.ericharshbarger.org/lego/desk.html. Hoity-toity: If you like toys, think of Toy News International as an early warning system for your wallet. The latest action figures and designer toys from the USA, Japan and a galaxy far, far away are seen first on this updated-multiple-times-a-day site, which will have collectors drooling over all the plastic crack coming down the pipeline. Save your money, wait for months and camp out in front of Wal-Mart when you check out http://toynewsi.com. Comments? mikecitrome@yahoo.com |
