Sign of things to come
|
While Mitt Romney’s plebes thump their chests in insistence that their reptile will eat the others in the 2008 Republican presidential nomination race, Mitt himself demonstrated just how fine a Republican he really is by dismissing concerns over a supporter’s sign that linked Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden. During a campaign stop in South Carolina, Mitt was photographed with a grammatically-challenged supporter toting a hand-scrawled placard that read “No to Obama Osama and Chelsea’s Moma.” In one photo, Romney stands beside the fan. In another, he’s hoisting the placard high in his own manicured hands. An audience member at a later Town Hall meeting told the presidential hopeful he was “concerned because I still remember where I was at on 9/11,” and asked Romney for an explanation. “I don’t stand for all the things I get my picture taken with,” Romney responded. An aide promptly called for the next question, but the man persisted, asking how Romney can compare Obama with bin Laden. “You know what?” Romney snapped, “Just lighten up slightly.” This incited an eruption of applause from the glassy-eyed supporters on hand, who’ve clearly become used to praising a man with no real answers. by Scott Saxon |
