It’s good
to be bad

Diva Diversion: According to this very paper’s BOM, sultry jazz chanteuse Amanda Mabro is Montreal’s seventh-most-pretentious artist. Well, Miss Mabro isn’t one to take this type of thing sitting down. No ma’am. She’s out to establish that she’s the number-one primadonna, the finickiest and most affected that this city has ever seen. The documentary on her Web site should establish that. And while you’re there, listen to some MP3s from her upcoming record, if you’re sophisticated enough to appreciate it, at amandamabro.com.

Sucks More: “We don’t like stuff that sucks”—those two great philosophers of the 1990s, Beavis and Butthead, said it best. Who Sucks is the blog that keeps track of all that is sucky in our society, from Dubya’s malapropisms to toxic made-in-China bargain merchandise to Kim Jong Il, Scottish thugs, manned space exploration, the Apple iPhone and Barack Obama. It’s a treasure-trove of talking points for pessimists and misanthropes at www.who-sucks.com.
