Badvertising: One sure sign of summer as of late in Montreal is the appearance of diesel-powered flatbed trucks, inching through slow-motion main-artery traffic, laden only with a giant, illuminated billboard of pole-dancing hoochies. They’re big and anything but subtle, not to mention global warmers, and that’s why local activist group überculture has their hate on. They’ve dedicated a Web site to banning what they called the [B]ad Trucks, and give lots of good reasons why you don’t need a Ford Econoline to do the job of a piece of cardboard, and what you can do about it at www.uberculture.org/badtrucks. No damn good: Especially if that hood happens to be Notre Dame de Grace, NDG, the N-Dirty, or as this video from local hip hop engineers Lab Noise style it, the DG. Presenting the music of West-End rap squad DPC, “Where U From” may be the summer anthem for anywhere west of Decarie and east of Westminster. Keep it R.E.A.L. like the bagel at www.labnoise.com/dpcvideo.html. by Michael Citrome Comments? mikecitrome@yahoo.com
