Boyo, Boyo: Although we’ve all been deprived of it—almost criminally—because it never seems to get shown on TV, our homegrown animation tradition, courtesy of the National Film Board, stands up alongside Betty Boop, Family Guy, Studio Ghibli and other cartoon greats. Beat the heat: Last summer, Geoff Milburn, an engineering student at Waterloo, was all hot and bothered but didn’t want to spring for an air conditioner. So using a garbage can, some tubing, an electric fan and his engineering skills, he concocted a butt-ugly but functional solution to the problem that has improved continuously since.
