Twisted Lens

Homegrown photo: The Geek, or Pixie for short, according to her improbable Web site bio, is a local photographer and artist whose work is worth taking a look at, if you like warm, squishy, bursting-with-colour images of fruit and flowers, or dark, sexy, gothic-bats-and-chains fetish images—or both, for that matter. The jaunty nautical image of a woman in striped stockings, a Battlestar Galactica-esque gas mask (and little else) may not be your typical seaside scene, but it certainly shows the Geek’s imagination at www.askthegeek.org.

Cold as ice: While we’re on the subject of photography, a guy named Matthew Wheeler, pleased with his victory over a challenge to light a fire using a lens made out of ice, proceeded to use said ice lens to take photos—weird, saturated, blurry photos, but photos nonetheless, taken with ICE! Imagine a camera you can drink. It’s hip, it’s now, it’s yours for the viewing at www.tinyurl.com/lpmse.
