If you’ve ever seen it you probably know this already, but HBO’s Entourage is pretty much the best show on TV right now (well, after The Sopranos), and certainly the most consistently entertaining. The show has Adrian Grenier as Queens-bred movie star Vinnie Chase, but its real stars, as the title suggests, are his hangers-on: brother Johnny Drama (a brilliant and brilliantly cast Kevin Dillon—brother of Matt), wisecracking buddy Turtle (Jerry Ferrara) and manager Eric (Kevin Connolly). And, of course, his manager Ari, magnificently portrayed by Jeremy Piven. The show’s been described as “Sex and the City for men,” and with its relentless urban lifestyle porn, the comparison isn’t entirely inaccurate. With the third season debuting in June, season two has finally made it to DVD, and not a moment too soon.
Though it was recently re-released in a special edition, Richard Linklater’s great Dazed and Confused gets the more deluxe Criterion treatment this week, with commentary, a new transfer, a 72-page book about the film and, most importantly, way better box art than the embarrassing previous editions. —Mark Slutsky
