Rollie Pemberton, aka Cadence Weapon, sometimes known as the Rapper From Edmonton (!) Who Wrote for Pitchfork and Isn’t of Legal Drinking Age in Many States, is back updating Razorblade Runner (http://razorbladerunner.blogspot.com) after a couple of months of sporadic hellos and here-I-ams. Along with Carl Wilson’s zoilus.com (he’s also of Ye Olde Globe & Mail), it’s one of the Canadian blogs I usually stop in on. Unlike Mr. Wilson, however, Mr. Pemberton doesn’t lose my interest by going off the deep end and proselytizing about Final Fantasy. Nay, the next ghetto-house booty-bass baller shit is more up his alley, and I’m quite thankful for that. And finally, another item to file under “stolen from Nick Catchdubs,” the Swedes at www.discobelle.net have been busy popping up “Gimme Dat,” a tight summer joint from Norwegian producer/DJ Tommy Tee, the face and voice of continental European hip hop for the past couple years. Check out www.teeproductions.com for some MP3s and videos, and be sure to peep the le Sport remixes further down on Discobelle for some sunshine-slick, yacht-rocking Euro-pop. Does anyone have that Juan MacLean remix of “Black Flag” by Duchess Says? Bring it to the Academy Club on Friday, when Ivory Temple (hey, that’s half me), A.Rob and a secret guest enable ass-shaking and hand-waving. GIMME GIMME GIMME... goldkicks@gmail.com |
