Got the full info on New York’s latest Afro-beat export to hit Montreal. The Budos Band is now confirmed for a June 9 show at Alizé, and if the walls aren’t dripping with sweat, it ain’t the Budos Band. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door, and can be found at Primitive Records. Fans of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings and the Sugarman 3 will no doubt appreciate the sheer power of this heavyweight band. Don’t miss it. With help from members of Kalmunity and the Memmics Crew, the night promises experimentation with sonic senses and the voice as instrument. Checked out the release party for the second LP from Daniel Russo Garrido, aka Boogat, last week over at Main Hall. Much like his first LP, Patte de Salamandre explores all manner of Latin roots while maintaining the b-boy stance. Boogat played to a full house with a live band that included collaboration with Karim Ouellet, Kenlo, Accrophone, les 2 Tom, Sola, Niño Malo, Showme and L Nino. Look for the new LP in stores now. Seven reasons they’re just not ready: THE B IS FOR BADONKADONK... fathead@videotron.ca |
