Spill the beans: Jim Romenesko is “monitoring America’s favourite drug dealer” in his blog, but he’s not talking about the biker gangs, the Colombians or the FBI. Starbucks Gossip is in no way affiliated with the Seattle-based coffee giant, but his candor concerning the coffee biz is as strong as a double-shot of espresso. Love Starbucks or hate it, this site is as addictive as a green tea frappuccino. Share your feelings about annoying baristas at http://starbucksgossip.typepad.com/. Bad Luck Dept.: There was a time when the word AIDS meant absolutely nothing, and during the ’70s and early ’80s an appetite-suppressant with the unfortunate moniker of AYDS ruled the diet industry roost. In 1981, when the disease gained public attention, the successful diet candy (which came in chocolate, butterscotch, caramel and peanut butter flavours) became a tough sell, and by 1988 was off the market.
