Man bites dog

According to information distributed by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, a person weighing 140 pounds, as Teresa L. Kaiser does, would have to consume six five-ounce glasses of wine or 12-ounce cans of beer in an hour to reach a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, as Teresa L. Kaiser’s was when police picked her up following a drunken collision. That’s twice Oregon’s legal limit. Kaiser should know the figures well. She is, after all, the executive director of that commission. Or rather, she was.

According to a witness, Kaiser was driving erratically and reacting slowly at stop signs before she veered into an oncoming 4X4. When police arrived, Kaiser, who admitted she shouldn’t be driving, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody. The police notified the governor’s office that they had an embarrassing situation on their hands, and soon Kaiser was told that she might want to consider resigning. She has obliged.

Aside from those to Ms. Kaiser’s career, the accident saw no serious injuries.
