Drunken road kill

It can get hot, that early evening ride down through Poway, California under a low-sky sun. For 32-year-old Steven Andrew Turner, it was too hot.

The T-top of the sports car he was in wasn’t going to cut it, so Turner did the next obvious thing: he stood up hoping the wind would cool him down. But the wind is always looking to one-up itself, and so it rather aggressively lifted Turner out of the car and slapped him down on the baked asphalt of Interstate 15, where it’s believed he received the further humiliation of being hit by another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Driving the T-top was Turner’s pal Joseph Reccoppa, who was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Reccoppa posted bail later that evening, but may face additional charges by the time police wrap up their investigation.
