Metro map remixed!

Hi everyone’s favourite newspaper. Don’t know if you’ve seen the recent flurry of “remixed” transit maps that have recently been popping up on Boing Boing (boingboing.net, everyone’s favourite directory of wonderful things).

Basically, the idea is to make a version of a metro map where the station names have been anagrammed into something amusing (London’s “Liverpool Street” becomes “Pistoleer Revolt,” for instance). It started with London, then someone did Toronto, and it kind of snowballed from there. The latest post on Boing Boing lists anagrammed maps from about 30 cities worldwide, all assembled within the past week or so. So anyway, with the help of some intrepid Livejournallers, I put together a Montreal version, which can be seen at http://community.livejournal.com/montreal/ 1259849.html. What do you think? Zinester heard

I think it’s great that you write the occasional blurb about zines around town (Stationaery, Streeteaters, YALLAzine etc.), however, there are plenty of other local zines that you should be promoting. You’re all about independent art, right? Well, where the fuck’s the independent art?! There are tons of people in Montreal who bust their asses to make small works of art on their own dime, whether it’s monthly, tri-yearly or whenever they’ve got the cash for photocopies. They need local support, they need a regular column with reviews in your highly-visible paper, instead of just the occasional ArtsHole aside. Support indie smut! (And other artistic endeavours.)
