Big congratulations go out to the lovely Lady SpecialK, aka Keithy Antoine, who continues her climb to the throne as the Queen of All Media. She was the host of the hip hop show Nuit Blanche on Radio Centre-Ville, and of the TV show Vibeplus on Canal Vox, and now she’ll be the host of La Zone Urbaine on XM Satellite Radio. The show will air from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day on XM100-Air Musique, and will reach an audience of approximately five million listeners. So... who do I talk to about a job? The suave, debonair and funky Tony Ezzy plays a show with the Deadly Ninja Zark 22 tonight, Feb. 9, at le Divan Orange. For all the people who’ve been asking what the deal with Tony is, please take a minute and go see for yourself. Doors are 10 p.m. Every Sunday this month, the Main Hall is housing the Dreams 2006 series, and this Sunday, Feb. 12, you can check out part two. This night is called Visit Venus and it brings together the spirited talents of Lady Ra’faelle, Katalyst, S.h.a.r.(o.)n., Kim Bryant and Odessa Thornhill in a night of spoken word and song. Seven dollars is the cover for early birds. If you’ve been jonesing for some Jojo Flores, get your ass in gear this Friday and head over to Stereo, where our man Jojo teams up with legendary Club Shelter DJ Timmy Regisford. Known for his blistering, 12-hour sets of soulful dance music, Timmy has worked for various major labels during his long career in the music industry, being most notably responsible for signing groups like Guy and Eric B & Rakim to MCA. This will be a crazy night, and I suggest you make plans to be there for this special event. DJ Kobal is joined by Ghislain Poirier this Friday over at Blizzarts. You know Big Ghis is gonna give the soundsystem a run! Stop by and give Kobal a kiss! Looking ahead, dirty-ass porno-funk icon Blowfly makes his way to Montreal for a show at Cafe Campus on April 2. Known as the original dirty rapper, the elderly Blowfly is responsible for songs like “My Dick Can Fly,” “Porno Freak” and an infamous version of the Sesame Street theme that is definitely not for kids. Also, be on the lookout for Jamie Lidell, who’ll play le National on April 22 after sneaking in the amazing sleeper soul LP Multiply, on Warp, last year.
