by CHRIS BARRY
Age: 28 Occupation: Pornographer Bio: Ten years ago, this savvy West Island resident was labouring in a Vancouver restaurant when an unfortunate back injury put his promising bartending career on hold, rendering the young Montrealer with a painful lack of income. Aware that a couple of “very attractive” restaurant co-workers were eager to get into the adult entertainment biz, Corey, clearly a bright and enterprising fellow, decided to make this lofty dream of theirs a reality and shortly thereafter went about setting up a series of very profitable softcore Web sites with these two chicks in mind. Soon discovering he was not only a gifted pornographer but a sharp businessman to boot, he quickly amassed a small fortune offering consulting services to aspiring Web pornographers before ultimately leaving his business behind to become the creative director at Hustler TV Canada. Recently retired from Hustler, Corey has just released an awesome how-to book, Making Money Shots: A Step-By-Step Guide to Producing Porn for Profit, which can be purchased through www.cexbooks.com. Given the volume of porn available on the net these days, can one still make decent money in the time-honoured profession of pornographer? “Oh yeah, absolutely. There are tons of guys in Montreal making a fortune in porn. These 22-year-olds that are, like, loaded. It’s really all about being in the right place at the right time and having a good product.” Is it hard finding talent? “In Montreal, not at all, there are tons of adult talent agencies. And if you put an ad in the paper, you get tons of people coming out—mostly guys though. For every girl who comes out to an open casting call you’ll get about 30 guys. And they all think they’re the next John Holmes.” One crucially important thing everyone should remember when shooting anal scenes: Always make sure your bottom talent has had an enema before the cameras start rolling. “A lot of beginners don’t necessarily realize this. Enemas are so important for an anal scene, otherwise, seriously, the shit will fly.” Two more common production difficulties: “Actors being able to get wood, and, of course, not being able to cum is another big one.” Has he ever found himself sporting a boner on set? Never. “You’ve got so many other things to consider you just don’t have time to get excited.” Is personally auditioning the talent a common perk for porn producers? Not really. “I’m sure there are still people who do this, but I don’t think it’s cool. The real professionals certainly don’t. These guys make enough money and are comfortable enough with themselves that they don’t need to trick somebody into having sex.” Are his parents proud of his porn accomplishments? “I don’t think you could say ‘proud,’ but they’re definitely not ashamed.” Last book read: The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry by Legs McNeil. Musical preferences: Kiss Me Deadly, Mike Gee, the Ramones. Words of wisdom: “There is no ‘I’ in tagteamed.” Comments? dimwit@openface.ca |
