Acceptable sex fantasies This is in response to the girl who wrote to Sasha about fantasizing that her boyfriend screws her decked out like a skinhead [“Skinhead love,” Sept. 22]. Being “horrified” by her fantasy, as both Sasha and the writer were, is the most ridiculous and insulting point of view ever. Do they even know what a skinhead represents and what their values are? Have they ever spoken to a skinhead and asked his or her views on issues—human relations, family values and dignity and respect for oneself and one’s heritage? You supposed open-minded, non-discriminating, educated hypocrites are quick to stamp a label on a population you know nothing about. Ignorance appears to be the sole true substance of your phoney, politically correct, translucent personalities. Regardless of your diplomas and high-status jobs, you are nothing more than empty carcasses with blinders so thick it cripples you extending your knowledge of a mentality that is so foreign to you. It is not Sasha herself who answered a letter in her column about someone who wanted to have sex with a dog? And that’s not horrifying? A person must be clinically ill or severely and grotesquely perverted to even consider such an act. Oh, but no, it’s the skinheads who are “horrifying,” while bestiality is completely acceptable? Disgusting. Most of my good friends are skinheads, and so is my boyfriend. Let me tell you, they are the most honourable people I know. True to their heart and true to their mind, these are people who are hard-working, well-educated, honest, dedicated and drug-free. To top it off, they will give you the hottest and most amazing sex you will ever have in your life. But hey, if you’d rather be fucking your dog, your underage neighbour, your HIV-infested junkie or your keyboard, that’s your perogative. » H.G. [Ed’s note: If you read closely, you’ll find that Sasha was not horrified by the skinhead fantasy, but speaking tongue-in-cheek. She also addressed the bestiality issue in her July 14 column, “Cross-species sex conundrum,” which can be found at www.montrealmirror.com/2005/071405/sasha.html.] McGill book dumping? We live in the McGill student ghetto and I am responding tardily to a letter you printed in summer that said McGill regularly dumps good books in blue bins [“For the love of freegans,” Aug. 4]. I regularly walk across the McGill campus at night en route to bars and returning home from friends’ places. I have twice come across many blue bins outside Redpath Hall full of novels and non-fiction books, many in great shape. I went through them and took a few for myself. Please investigate this matter. Most students do not know about this book dumping, and great books are going to waste. The books in question are being dumped on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Most of these books could easily be donated to Sally Ann or hospitals. The telephone number for the annual Redpath Hall book sale is 398-5000. » Maxine Hooray for hockey! Gabriel Morency is way off in saying the NHL is “still as dysfunctional as Britney Spears and Kevin ‘Cletus’ Federline’s marriage” [Sports Rage, Oct. 6]. The NHL has been saved. Goalies have been knocked down a few sizes and told to stick close to the net, the red line’s gone, tag-up offsides are back. Clutch-and-grab goonery and the once endless dump-and-chase cycle are the way of the past. Small, agile players can flaunt their skills, and speed is once again more important than bulk and brute force. The salary cap has spread talent across teams much more evenly than the old system allowed. Under what other conditions would the Habs come out 3-0 to start off the season, and with three edge-of-your-seat, one-goal victories at that? Hockey is a sport, it’s supposed to be exciting, and now it is. Well worth waiting a year. » Mike Bosnak DST’s dark side I just wanted to say that while most people seem in favour of aligning with the USA in extending daylight savings time [“Stretching afternoons,” Oct. 6], we goths aren’t. » B. Donovan Quebec’s aborted future [Translated from French, regarding Kristian Gravenor’s Sept. 1 column on Quebec’s low-birthrate/high abortion culture]: It’s simple: Quebec is accelerating towards disappearance. Having lost its soul and in looking to lose its language, Quebec is the toy of those who have hope for its demise for a long time. It is happy like a fool to disappear. » Annonymous WE WELCOME LETTERS TO THE EDITOR!Send your comments, compliments or criticisms to: Letters to the Editor, You may also fax us at (514) 393-3173, or reach us by e-mail: Letters to the Editor All letters should include your name, address and daytime phone number.
