A large load of loud

by JOHNSON CUMMINS

I so desperately wanted to dedicate all of my space this week to rant on about my deep hatred of people who use the "hang loose" hand signal, or perhaps continue my rant against Dave Navarro, but there are just too many damn shows to tell you about.

Tonight is going to be pretty trying on the denim warrior as it's packed solid with the rockity-rock. Toronto rock legends C'mon, consisting of guitar god and producer extraordinaire Ian Blurton, ex-Nashville Pussy bassist Katie Lynn Campbell and king of the traps Randy Curnew, are back again to cherish the love. This is all about the sweat and the blood, people, so don't miss one of Canada's best live bands. Opening for them at l'Hémisphère Gauche are Edmonton's hotsy-totsy bass/drum duo Whitey Houston and Montreal's wizards of the tambourine, the Adam Brown. Two bands that Blurton produced also happen to be playing across town tonight, at Café Campus - Montreal's finest Le Nombre and Canada's best kept secret, Shikasta.

That show is over at 11 p.m., so you can make your way over to C'mon, or check out some of these shows: Nebula (ex-Fu Manchu) and Honky (ex-Butthole Surfers) smoke out the Main Hall tonight, while Nutsak lays down two sets of their skewered rock at Casa. Then there's the return of Japan's psychedelic masters Acid Mothers Temple at Sala tonight with les Angles Morts opening.

Things keep heating up on Saturday when Crypt rockers Little Killers go toe to toe with fellow New Yorkers D.C. Snipers, backed by two locals that seem to be joined at the hip these days, BBQ and Demon's Claws, laying it down Montreal style at Quai des Brumes. Taking the garage to the arena on Saturday is the White Stripes at the Bell Centre - try and show up for the openers Greenhornes, as their British Invasion-meets-Pebbles-styled stompers are sure to flip yer wig.

Catch sonic terrorists Wolf Eyes on Sunday when they obliterate la Sala Rossa with local power balladeers AIDS Wolf opening. Noise, baby, you know what I'm talking about, so just dig yer hip noise self. Yer a little noise cutie, aren't ya? Yes you are, yes you are!

Then there's Khanate at la Sala Rossa on Tuesday. This is going to be pure, crushing devastation, so prepare for pain. Opening will be Nadja. Bring earplugs or just call in sick to work now.

See ya at the bar, fucko.
