Man bites dog

Waiting to exhale

It could have been a bad day for 34-year-old Travis Keith Kluever. Instead it was worse. The Douglas County, Nevada, man was being sought by police who'd planned to serve up child support papers once they found him. Unfortunately for Kluever, they found him at the most inopportune of times - sitting in his car, post-inhale but pre-exhale on a bowl of pot.

According to the arresting officer, he spotted Kluever's car, drove by it and saw the man lighting something held to his face. He says he watched Kluever take a few hits off the pipe, then stepped up to the driver's side window.

As the officer introduced himself, the startled Kluever allegedly threw his pipe on the floor of the car and partially exhaled into the officer's face. He then denied he'd been smoking pot. In doing so, he let loose the last of his condemning cloud of pot smoke, which billowed around the officer and sealed Kluever's ugly fate. Kluever was charged with unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
