Grisly finds |

Bear witness: Sometimes Internet phenomena make no sense - examine Conan O'Brien vs. BEAR, a site that invites ordinary people to send in artistic renderings of the Bostonian late night host battling a vicious grizzly bear. There's the artistic (old-timey boxing poster and Dragonlance novel-cover style,) the pop kitsch (American Gladiators and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots) and the utterly inexplicable (sock puppet Conan apparently making out with the bear.) Grin and, uh, tolerate it at www.conanvsbear.com. Virtual insanity: Shaye Saint John may at first glance look like the kid from Mask, but she's actually some kind of insane dude-woman from Los Angeles who inhabits a world of possessed dolls, eerie flash animation and psychedelic music loops, combined with bizarrely edited video captures. It's hard to figure out exactly what's going on here, but it's worth it to try. Turn down the volume if you're at work at http://shayesaintjohn.com. Comments? Michael Citrome |
