Damn right

Fetus float ahoy!

As if it isn't bad enough that the religious right is out to ruin Christianity, now they're screwing around with Pagan celebrations too. First to feel the effects is York, Pennsylvania, which might cancel their traditional Halloween parade rather than abide by a court decision that allows entry to a gruesome anti-abortion float. The float, sponsored by Reverend Jim Grove of the Loganville Heritage Baptist Church, promises to be a flatbed of bad taste featuring faux bloody and mutilated fetuses in various stages of development.

Last year, Rev. Grove tried to enter the float, dubbed "Dr. Butcher's Chop Shop of Choice Cuts," but was forbidden after refusing to remove the float's graphic images. This led to a legal battle in which the court ruled the church had the right to march alongside their good-natured counterparts.

Though a private sponsor would have the right to exclude floats it considered inappropriate, the city has yet to find a backer. The York Junior Chamber of Commerce had earlier announced they would take over the event, then backed out, saying their legal council recommended against it.
