Widescreen: The Matt Groening sci-fi cartoon series Futurama may be long cancelled, but it lives on in the hearts of its fans, who, apparently, are huge nerds with enough spare time to take detailed frame captures from panoramic scenes in the show and use image manipulation software to stitch them together. The result: gorgeous, wide artwork that was gone in a blink on TV but is now worthy of framing. Go wide at www.punkasspunk.com/futurama/. Cheap as free: Freegans are people who want it all for free - seriously, they're dedicated to living off the fat of post-industrial wasteland that is our capitalist dystopia. Sure, they spend a lot of time in stinky dumpsters, doing valiant battle with rats and pigeons, but look at all the great stuff they find! Um, apples, a chair, warm yogurt, yesterday's danishes, 120mb backup tapes. Dive in, the garbage is fine at www.freegan.info. Comments? Michael Citrome |
