Didn’t see that coming |

Twice in one month, 24-year-old Alin Prica stole a car. Both times Romanian police caught Prica after he’d crashed his stolen car into a tree. But Prica isn’t the typical stupid criminal one would expect. He’s just blind. Of his first attempt, Prica says he “just wanted to prove... that I could do anything I wanted—despite my handicap.” He was mistaken. He made it just under a mile before hitting a tree and knocking himself unconscious. Thinking he’d have better luck with a guide of sorts, Prica tried again, this time stealing a car along with another blind guy as well as a fully-sighted person. Prica’s intent was to drive all the way home following the sighted friend’s directions. He had considerably better luck, making it an impressive 40 kilometres before hitting another tree. Police said they wouldn’t press charges against Prica’s two accomplices, but hadn’t decided if their leniency will carry over to Prica. » Scott Saxon |
