Vidiot's Box

Unlike his pseudonymous XXX hits, Radley Metzger's arthouse softcore is mostly about the tease (for those who know how to read the signs). The subtle way a woman's high heel slips off her foot and seductively dangles from her big toe can mean one of two things: she's borrowed her big sister's shoes or she wants you to fingerbang her under the table. The impeccably dressed and impossibly beautiful Euro-swingers in Metzger's black and white The Alley Cats are experts at interpreting this kind of body language. To them, a sequined dress strap (whoopsi daisy!) slipping from a creamy white shoulder means "Meet me in the master bedroom and bring the whip." Thankfully, The Radley Metzger Collection: Volume One, which includes Therese and Isabelle, The Alley Cats and Camille 2000, will soon be available for your '60s erotica edification.

Ju-on is one of the scariest Japanese movies to get a bad American makeover. Strangely enough, this comes courtesy of the original director, Takashi Shimizu. Now you can rent the first one on DVD, fully loaded with behind-the-scenes footage, cast and crew interviews and deleted scenes. » Sarah Rowland
