Damn right

Crazy time in Congress

As the thinking world reels at the prospect of four more years of George W. Bush, it might also be time to take a closer look at some of the other Republicans working to ensure the worst for America. Like Oklahoma Senator-Elect Tom Coburn.

Coburn nudged out his Dem rival despite campaign trail memorables like suggesting abortionists face the death penalty and claiming that there was rampant lesbianism in Oklahoma high schools. In arguing his stance on privatization of social security, Coburn announced that African Americans have "a genetic predisposition" to lower life expectancies. He also suggested that the biggest threat to American freedom is the "gay agenda" of endless abortions and "multiple sexual partners."

Coburn isn't new to the ludicrous comment market. He once led a protest against his local NBC affiliate's airing of Schindler's List, deriding the network for hitting "an all-time low, with full-frontal nudity, violence and profanity."

In his non-political career as an obstetrician, Coburn was sued for sterilizing a 20-year-old mother of two without her consent.
