The Incubator

A tribe called wait...

by SCOTT C

Whatever. After A Tribe Called Quest dropped that steaming nugget "I.C.U." for the third Violator compilation a little while back, all remaining hope that any fan still had for the rumoured reunion LP probably went up in smoke. It's a good thing there's plenty more music to keep people satisfied. Apparently, the album that Q-Tip did for Arista as Kamaal the Abstract is supposed to be released in the end. Although the record was initially shelved, after the suits saw the Internet and bootleg feeding frenzy that accompanied the promos and leaks they finally decided to maximize on the demand. Problem is, by now anyone who really wanted it already has it or is downloading it right now. But while ATCQ rumours abound, the modest Ali Shaheed Muhammad has quietly released a new batch of solo material, featuring an interesting array of guests. The album, Shaheedullah and Stereotypes, is out this week.

Sorry. A little misinformation goes a long way. I stated here not long ago that Mobb Deep was confirmed for the October 29, when in fact the Queensbridge duo are confirmed for an October 24 show at the Dome. This is the absolute truth, and I'm sorry if I caused any confusion on the block.

This Friday, October 15, make sure you check out Toronto's A Man Called Warwick of Movement and Turning Point fame, along with Dan Zacks (Waxingdeep.org) and Andy Williams (The Goods) for Tempo over at the Green Room. These guys are laying down a night of Afro-Latin jazz, funk and soul rhythms for the people, and you're invited! Doors are at 10 p.m. and for a mere $5, I'll see you there.

Damn. Those Eye 2 Eye cats sure do get themselves organized right quick! It's time again for their fourth annual Shiver Show, a night that combines the crazy worlds of hip hop and Halloween for maximum enjoyment. June Sixth and Second Thought hit the stage at midnight for some theatrical boom bap, followed by a night of dancing and revelry for all the costumed participants. You might even win some cashola if you've got on the right outfit. It goes down Saturday, October 30 at Studio Just For Laughs (2109 St-Laurent) for $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Clocks go back an hour at midnight for that extra spooky shit. Doors are at 10 p.m.

Seven reasons you probably have bird flu already....
1. Ivana Santilli "Breathe Inn" INC Heavy Breather mix (CDR)
2. Build an Ark "Freedom" (Kindred Spirits)
3. O.C. Word Life LP (Fatbeats)
4. Prince Po "Social Distortion" feat. MF Doom (Lex)
5. Lloyd "Hey Young Girl" (Murder Inc)
6. Mos Def "Grown Man Business" (Geffen)
7. Jean Grae "P.S." (Babygrande)

Dat's for sure!... fathead@videotron.ca
