There seem to be a few reasons to celebrate this week, with the mighty Ms. B throwing a jam to mark her birthday tonight, Thursday, Sept. 23. Make a move down to Blue Dog for the festivities, where the birthday girl, James Bond and Selecta Jinx will be joined by special guests LDG, Little Thunder, King Levi, Soul Road Warrior, Blaster, Peaches and invites Mikey Dangerous, Skillman, Sampaloo, Nighthawk and Drew. As you can see, the place will be rammed, so get there early for your fill of roots, dancehall and such. Five bucks before midnight.

Jojo Flores returns from New York this week with some trophies for the mantlepiece - he snagged the Best International DJ of the Year award, and Best International Independent Label of the Year for Gotsoul Records, at the Undaground Archives Choice Awards. The whole Gotsoul and Therapy crew invite you down to celebrate with them tonight at Jello. Jojo also wins the award for the guy you're least likely to see walking down the street on any given day in Montreal - he's just that busy!

Simon B and Uzi heat up the new chill room at Circus this Saturday, blessing the stush decor with some lush and soulful vibes indeed. Check it out, should be good. Former Montrealer, and now resident of Hamburg, Germany, Philarmonix is in town for a short visit. He'll be dropping bombs at the Goods this Saturday over at la Sala Rossa. Expect the hot shit from this kaleidoscopic DJ and his selections.

Seems the boys down at Game Tuesdays have decided to shift their relatively new night from Club Nexxt to Boodha Bar up the street. Still holding down Tuesday night, DJ Grandtheft, D.R. One and DJ Kidd plan to stay here for a while, bringing you all manner of hip hop, R&B and reggae. Five dollars will get you in.

Don't forget Coco Café with host Mahalia Verna this weekend as well, when they explore the theme of spirituality through poetry, spoken word and performance. That goes down Sunday at Jello. Doors are at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m., all for a mere $8.
